Kalanit Oded focuses her practice on land-use and environmental law as well as local government law. Prior to joining Shepard, Smith & Cassady, Kalanit worked at the Appellate Conference Attorney Program of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit where she helped mediate civil appellate cases. After receiving her law degree in 2003, Kalanit practiced corporate and securities litigation at Ré, Parser & Partners in New York City.
Kalanit received her undergraduate degree from Rutgers University. She was a Douglass College Scholar, a member of Phi Beta Kappa and graduated Magna Cum Laude. She received her law degree from Tulane Law School with a certificate in Environmental Law. While at Tulane, Kalanit was a student attorney at the Tulane Environmental Law Clinic, participated in the Appellate Moot Court and was an officer of several student organizations. Kalanit recently completed her LL.M degree in Environmental and Land Use Law at University of Florida and is completing a Master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning. During graduate school, Kalanit was a planning intern at the Center for Building Better Communities, worked as a planning consultant to local governments, served as the student representative to the Florida American Planning Association's Legislative Committee and was a teaching assistant for a Growth Management graduate course.
Kalanit is a member of the Florida and New York Bar Associations, the American Planning Association and the Florida Audubon Society.
